Montgomery County PA civil court filing fee increaseEffective January 1, 2012, the Montgomery County Prothonotary's office has increased its filing fees for civil lawsuits.  The Montgomery County, PA Prothonotary is the elected civil clerk of the Court of Common Pleas and is responsible for recording all civil procedures before the court.  The Office of the Prothonotary is responsible for the recording and filing of legal papers in several areas of law, including divorce, child custody, protection from abuse, judgments, driver's license suspension appeals, District Justice appeals and mechanics liens. 

In Montgomery County, filing fees for civil lawsuits typically increase every one to two years.  The new schedule of fees is available on the Prothonotary's website, which you can access here.  Notable increases include that for the filing of a Civil Complaint, from $251.00 to $258.00; for a Complaint in Divorce, from $261.00 to $268.00; and for a Complaint for Custody/Visitation, from $258.00 to $266.00.
